Creative Impulse can support all the normal industry standard DSP and processor architectures found in the contemporary industry, but we also have close knowledge of some specialised cores that form a specialism. Typically used in our multicore development activities for hard deadline embedded realtime support.

Freescale / ST Micro - eTPU & eTPU2

Since the early days of the Motorola/Freescale eTPU, Rob Lowe has worked closely with our associates at Byte Craft Limited and Ashware Inc. to provide specialist development targeted at the Freescale eTPU. This tight coupling between the tools provider and the developer allows for the realisation of innovative solutions, pushing the established limits of the device capability.

Texas Instruments - TMS320, C2800 Piccolo and Delfino families

Creative Impulse have significant experience working with co-processor architectures and system designs. The Texas Instruments TMS320, C2800 Piccolo and Delfino families have been a regular feature of developments in the recent past allowing cost effective augmented processor capabilities at an easily attainable cost of tooling. These platforms provide fast co-processor capabilities in the form of the VCU, TMU and CLA subsystems. We have developed hard deadline “software in the loop” solutions using these devices, optimising them down to instruction level in order to excel in demanding environments including:

  • High Efficiency Power Supply Developments
  • High Efficiency Power Conversion
  • Motor Control

Strategic Relationships - eTPU Development

Phaedrus Systems is the UK's leading and only independent supplier of tools for embedded systems development, from conception to completion.

Byte Craft Limited produce specialist development systems for the more unusual breeds of processors. They have a particular Speciality in the Freescale eTPU core, which is bundled in their MPC555x range of PowerPC devices. This device is a specialised, on silicon "co-processor" for handling high bandwidth realtime signal response. The Byte Craft compiler provides a C language interface to the eTPU native Micro-code. Thus enabling much greater return on effort invested in development. The easiest and most accurate comparison would be to consider writing a complex timer and multi-edged signal related ISR in assembler, versus C. The eTPU core enables response times in excess of most embedded processors. This is one of many products offered by Byte Craft including Freescale Coldfire family and PIC devices. Their site is well worth a visit for anyone working in the embedded field.

Creative Impulse have experience of working very closely with Byte Craft during the early days of the eTPU compiler and are particularly proud to be continuing this affiliation into the future with provision of on-site eTPU consultancy and contracting services in the Euro-zone. Please look into Byte Craft's product and consider us to assist you in your development activities.

ASH WARE produce hardware simulators for "Ahead of hardware" development. They have a particular Speciality in the Freescale eTPU core, which is bundled in their MPC555x range of PowerPC devices. This device is a specialised, on silicon "co-processor" for handling high bandwidth realtime signal response.

Creative Impulse have experience of working very closely with ASH WARE during the early days of the eTPU core and are particularly proud to be continuing this affiliation into the forseeable future with provision of on-site eTPU consultancy and contracting services in the Euro-zone. Please look into ASH WARE's product and consider us to assist you in your development activities.
